We are two weeks out from the very first race of the Short's Brewing Fat Bike Series! Thirst Mutilator Fat Bike race gets everyone into gear, and with the proposed course, it'll be a rather sharp welcome to winter, regardless of the snow fall.
Pockets of snow dot the course, but much of it leaf-covered dirt trails that make the majority of the terrain on Timber Ridge property. While some aspects of the route will change based on snowfall in the next fourteen days, we can confirm that the course will travel clockwise on the property, erasing the odds of an full Icebreaker ascent. Still, this direction for a lap means that while each circuit will lack a major climb, it will have numerous smaller undulations. It also means the finale will be making a left hand turn toward the lodge, uphill to the line should the race come down to a sprint.
"We're putting together, essentially, two course; one is designed for snow and one without," explained Jason Lowetz, the race organizer. "Either way, the goal is fast, selective, and fun."
Especially without snow, the technical parts of the course will come halfway through each 3 mile lap, with a lot of high-speed straightaways bookending the lap.
We'll have a GPS file up this weekend for riders to check out!
