Vasa Race Day FAQs

1. When does the race start?

The Long race will start at 1pm at Timber Ridge. The Short's race will start at 1:45pm.

2. How long is each race?

The Long race is 35 kilometers and includes the Winter Sports Connector out of Timber Ridge, Riley's Loop, part of the Vasa Pathways, and Logger's Run, providing a mix of challenging singletrack and wide open, passable trail. The Long race will be 2 laps and will take riders anywhere between 1.5 and 2.5 hours to complete. 

The Short's race is 14 kilometers and includes the Winter Sports Connector and Logger's Run, neatly dividing the race into challenging singletrack and open trails each circuit. The Short's Race will be 3 laps and will take roughly 45 minutes to complete.

3. Where can I register?

Online registration will be until mid-week. Day-of registration is available Saturday until 12:30 for $60. Pre-registered racers will be entered to win a Bearclaw Bicycle Co. Balthazar frameset, which will be given away at the last race of the year at Beard of Zeus on March 5.

4. What are these points people are talking about?

Vasa is the second race of the Short's Brewing Fat Bike Series. Current standings are available here.

5. Where are awards?

Awards will be in the party tent within 20 minutes of the finish of all racers. Awards will be for first, second and third in each category. The medals were hand-made in Grayling, Michigan by Air Way Automation.

7. Where are aid stations or volunteers on the course?

A. Close side of metal powerline on the groomed bike track

B.  Far side of metal powerline on Riley's (these both are to watch for snowmobile traffic)

C.  Supply Rd Parking Lot... making sure people find Riley's.

D.  At the Loggers/Riley's intersection directing long race first lappers back out (LEFT) and second lappers toward TR (RIGHT)

E.   In Timber at Abigail and Riley's/Groomed bike trail.
